Calico Cake Class (2 days)

If you love “calico” fabric, you’ll love this class!  Day 1 - Students will learn how to make the many miniature gum past flowers, leaves & berries, as well as cover their tiers with rolled fondant.  Day 2 – Students will work on assembling & decorating their own Calico Cake, just as Wendy Kromer created for Martha Stewart Weddings magazine.  Basic skills working with Rolled Fondant is recommended.  Students will receive a certificate upon completion of class.  Students may then take their finished Calico Cake home, for future inspiration.  Boxes will be provided for safe transport.

Dates:          Monday & Tuesday, August 5-6 (Reserve by July 5, 2013)  

Class Times:  9:00AM – 4:00PM

Class Size:     each class is limited to 6 students (4 students minimum, per class)

Class Level:   Beginner/Intermediate

Price:             $385

Ingredients & Tools:  Students will need to bring a Rolling Pin (15” long w/handles works best) & a Cake Turntable.  All fondant, gum paste, icings & modeling tools will be made available for use during class.

Food & Drinks: light refreshment will be provided during class.  There will be a 45 minute break for Lunch.  Students may bring their own lunch, or dine at one of the nearby restaurants

 

 

“Summer Fun”  Cookie Decorating Class

Learn to decorate cookies like a Pro!  Wendy Kromer has decorated many a cookie over the past 18 years, many of them viewed in Martha Stewart Living, and at many celebrations.  Join her as she teaches many of the techniques she’s perfected over the years.  You’ll learn how to make & work with Royal Icing; how to flood cookies creating that “flawless” look; and many other tricks that, with practice, will take your cookie decorating skills from “average” to “exceptional”!  Following class, students will take their finished Cookies home, to enjoy.  Boxed will be provided for safe transport… however napkins will be on-hand should immediate consumption be desired!

“Garden Party” Cupcake Class

Spend the day with Wendy Kromer, baking & decorating cupcakes that would “blossom” at any respectable Garden Party!  Students start the day baking decadent Chocolate, Red Velvet & French Vanilla cupcakes; then learn how to make & flavor Wendy’s favorite Swiss Meringue Buttercream.

All Ingredients?Tools will be available for use during class. All tools will need to be returned to Wendy Kromer Confections upon completion of the class.

Food & Drinks:   Light refreshment will be provided during class. There will be a 45 minute break for Lunch.  Students may bring their own lunch, or dine a t one of the nearby restaurants.

 

 

Student Information:

Kitchen Attire & Code of Conduct:    
It is advisable to bring an apron or chef’s coat.  All hand towels will be provided.  As Wendy Kromer Confections is a professional, commercial kitchen, students are required to wear closed-toe shoes and have their hair neatly tied back at all times.  Cell phones are permitted, however all calls must be taken outside of the classroom.  Photography is allowed, however students must ask permission before photographing another’s work.

Cancellations:      

If you must cancel class, a 48 hour notice, in advance of class, is required.  There are no refunds made on classes, however a student has the option of applying payment to another class, provided space is available.

Lodging:  There are hotels in the area; however you will need a car for transport to/from our Academy.  Taxi service is available; however it is not always reliable.
